Will Joaquin Phoenix play Lex Luthor in 'Batman vs Superman'?

It was earlier hinted that the ‘Walk The Line' star was in line to play a ‘major villain' in the blockbuster sequel, however, it is still unclear if Warner Bros approached Phoenix for the said role, Metro.co.uk reported.
