Last morning, producer Shobu Yarlagadda heaved a sigh of relief after the technician responsible for leaking his upcoming magnum opus Baahubali 2's nine-minute sequence was put behind bars. He even managed to joke about how thankful he is that the leaked scene wasn't the answer to the epic question - Kattappa ne Baahubali ko kyun maara?

Recounting the chain of events, Shobhu tells us, "A few fan clubs reached out to our digital team to inform that a video claiming to be the climax of 'Baahubali' sequel is being circulated on Whatsapp. When it was uploaded on YouTube, we knew the source of the leak was the studio where a technician was involved in post-production. We immediately traced the person, who has been handed over to the cyber crime cops."

The accused, Krishna Dayanand Chowdary, who had joined Annapurna Studios as a trainee designer a few months ago, is currently in police custody. He has been booked under Sections 66 and 43 (B) of the IT Act and Section 63 of the Copyright Act. The cops are also keeping a close eye on two of his aides. The incident has prompted the team to have their guards up. They aren't petrified, but will be cautious hereon.

"Thankfully, it was the unprocessed footage. We will retain the scene in the movie after it has been recreated with help of visual effects. But we will be auditing the different teams all over again. There's only so much a producer or director can do. There are hundreds of people working on a movie and you cannot be looking into what each person does. During audit, we will rearrange teams as well. We can only take precautions and hope that such an incident is not repeated. Big bucks are riding on the project and piracy of any kind could prove lethal for us," Shobhu admits.
