Coffee Shop is Githakrishana's first tryst in Kannada cinema. Manju Shettar speaks to the director about his first trilingual film venture

The Kannada film Coffee Shop which will hit the screens in a month's time is inspired by 'a lot can happen over a cup of coffee and Einstein's theory of relativity'. Also watch out for Bollywood actor Atul Kulkarni, Shashank, Bianca and baby Shivani's untapped talent. Here's what Githakrishana has to say about his work.

The stage is set: Director Githakrishna assists artists at the sets of the movie Coffee Shop which hits the theatres soon. In the picture above he is seen with baby Shivani, Bianca Desai and Shashank

What are the highlights of the film Coffee Shop?

It is completely a mind game of the youth and how to use your mind, based on scientific theory and relativity. The script deals with the protagonist, who hails from Karnataka and antagonist, who hails from Pakistan. The mind games between the duo are as interesting to watch as a reality show. It is au00a0u00a0 thriller with a strong message for the youth.

How is it technically strong?
We have used Red 4K resolution camera for the first time in the industry and cameramen NRI Murali Pallikonda and MV Raghu have done an amazing job.

How significant is baby Shivani's role in the film?
Baby Shivani's character is oriented on suspense, where she has done complete justice to her role.u00a0u00a0

What were the challenges you had to face with your debut venture in the Kannada film industry?
I faced a few positive challenges throughout the making of the film, as it is being made in three languages. The film is being shot in different locations - Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. The Kannada version will be released one day before the Tamil and Telugu versions. Although, Kannada audience interests are quite different, I am hoping they will like the film's screenplay.

You have planned an audio launch with Puneeth Rajkumar. How do you think his presence would make a difference?u00a0u00a0
I am very passionate about Dr Rajkumar's films and have watched all of his films. He was a multifaceted personality with great talent and knowledge of music. So his son was a natural choice when we were narrowing down for a special guest for the audio launch.

Film's female lead Bianca Desai is known to be a glamour girl. How have you portrayed her in this film?
Being a Kannada actress Bianca came across many challenges at the same time in this trilingual film. Her role as an RJ is very individualistic, who wants self respect. We've kept her glamour girl image in this film too.
