The Swarna Kamal award winning Tamil film 'Kancheevaram' held a special screening for felicitating none other than the national award-winning actor Prakash Rai in Bangalore.
After watching the film, the national award-winning actress, Umasri turned emotional. The subject of the film 'Kancheevaram', on the weavers' woes, was very close to her in real life.
Umasri hails from the weaver's community and as an MLC, she has gone around understanding the hard times faced by weavers in many parts of Karnataka. A woman shown in the film begging for Rs 400, which was due to her for three months of work, moved Umasri to tears.
