Jealous competitors are spreading the rumour that she made Salman and Katrina break up, says Ghajini herione Asin
Bollywood's glam girls cannot handle the box office success ofu00a0 their South Indian counterparts. At least that's what Asin, who catapulted to fame with Ghajini, recently alleged at a press meet in Mumbai.
She claimed this never happened when she acted in South Indian movies.
"When I used to act in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films, the media respected me, but some people in Bollywood are getting jealous of me and are saying that I'm responsible for the Salman-Katrina split."
Not only has Asin rubbished such allegations, sheu00a0 has vowed to get to the bottom of such controversies created by "michief mongers."
South Indian actressesu00a0 like Vyjayanthimala, Padmini, Rekha, Hema Malini and Sridevi had a dream run in Bollywood. The flood slowly then turned into a trickle. But with Asin signing plum roles in films and netting top notch endorsments,u00a0 other South Indian actresses could well be inspired to follow suit.
Reign of remakes
Encouraged by the response to his remakes, he started buying remake rights for other Malayalam films such as Kadha Parayumbol and Manichitrathazhu, both of which he remade in Hindi.
The dearth of strong scripts in Bollywood is also forcing filmmakers to make umpteen trips to Chennai and Hyderabad in search of successful films which can be remade.
This drought in Bollywood has also encouraged reputedu00a0 filmmakers like Bala-chandar, Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth to make bilingual films to tap the potential of a new and growing market.
