On the sets of Kumki 2
Films centered around animals have always been a big draw. Having a four-legged protagonist makes for an entertaining movie watching experience. Remember the Rajesh Khanna-starrer Haathi Mere Saathi (1971) and Dharmendra-starrer Maa (1976)? The films had proved to be hugely popular. Over the years, stringent laws against the use of animals in films made it difficult for Bollywood to pen scripts based on such subjects.
Pen India Ltd's Tamil film Kumki 2, whose story revolves around an elephant, is currently being shot in Thailand due to the complications involved in shooting with elephants in India. The film is directed by Prabhu Solomon, who has also written the script and screenplay. It is a sequel of his 2012 film of the same name, which was a success.
Kumki 2 is an emotional story about the bond between an elephant and its caretaker. The film was remade in Telugu as Gajraju (2012), which also proved to be successful.
The cast includes South actors Mathi, Adithi Menon, RJ Balaji, Munish Kanth and Prabhakar.
Kumki 2 also has a schedule lined up in Sri Lanka.
