Balaraj plays 'son of the soil' in his forthcoming film Mannina Madilu
Urban India holds no appeal for hero Balaraj. He extols the virtues of life in a village in his forthcoming film, Mannina Madilu.
He plays the role of a misguided youngster who journeys to the city in search of excitement, but ends up frustrated by lack of opportunity. "I was struck by the truth of the tale. It mirrors all that is happening in the metros today because of the economic downturn," says Balaraj.
Produced by V Munesh, who owns a cement block firm, and directed by Sangam, the film will be shot in Mandya and Mysore. "My message to the villagers is that they shouldn't sell their ancestral land and migrate to cities. There are better prospects in villages than in cities now," says Sangam.
Sangeetha, who makes her debut in Mannina Madilu, is a PUC student of Seshadripuram College. She plays a village belle who captures the rustic hero's heart. Will the double M work magic on Mannina Madilu like it did with Mungaru Male and Mussanje Mathu? Wait and watch.
