Stars and technicians get a 15-day break as the Kannada film industry gears up for platinum jubilee celebrationsJayamala, chairperson, KFCCThis is not just an industry festival, but a people's festival. We are hosting celebrations in small towns as well. Our aim is to make event as grand as the history of Kannada cinema. It's heartwarming that the government, the film industry and Kannada organisations are coming together. Everyone in the industry gets a 15-day break, starting Feb 17 to March 1.
B Suresh, directorI hope we go beyond parties and celebrations. This is a good time to analyse ourselves as an entertainment industry. I hope to see the release of the book, Kannada Chalanachitra Charitre (History of Kannada films), edited byu00a0 V N Subbarao. We also need to set up a laboratory a meeting ground where we get to discuss and dissect our films objectively.u00a0u00a0
Look who's talking like a babu!
Ravi Chandran, who is on KFCC's entertainment committee for the celebrations, had us baffled by his response. "There will be a press conference in a few days. I will say what I have to say about the event then," he said stiffly.u00a0
Suresh NM, producerThis is a festival of Karnataka. I have postponed the production work of my film Cheluveye Ninna Nodalu because of the 15-day break announced by the KFCC. We should use this opportunity to honour senior artistes.
Puneeth Rajkumar, actorI hope the big event on March 1 will be a grand entertainer. Everyone associated with the industry should participate in the celebrations.
Ramesh Bhat, film and TV actorIt's time we gave something back to the industry which has nurtured us all. I hope to see more government funding in the Kannada film industry.
