South actress Divya Spandana, also known as Ramya, became a victim of a death hoax on Wednesday. Social media went abuzz with the news that the actress had passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest. Now, the Tamil Nadu Congress has clarified that the actress-politician is "absolutely fine".
Divya Spandana's death rumours started circulating on social media on Wednesday morning. However, the actor is alive and well and is currently in Geneva, according to reports.
The misinformation began spreading when a Public Relations Officer (PRO) shared the news of her death on social media, leading many to express their condolences. Shortly afterwards, journalist Chitra Subramaniam shared a photograph of the actress taken in Geneva, talking about their meeting.

Divya herself replied to Chitra's tweet. Fans reacted to say they were relieved to see the actress was fine.
Another journalist also confirmed that the actress is alive and well. Dhanya Rajendran of The News Minute spoke to Divya herself and refuted rumours of her death. She wrote in a tweet, "Just spoke to @divyaspandana. She is in Geneva, was sleeping peacefully till calls came in. Whoever the irresponsible person was, who tweeted this and the news organisations that put it out as news flash, shame on you."
The PRO later deleted the post that started the false rumours. Fans criticised the PRO for spreading unverified information.
Divya Spandana, better known by her screen name Ramya, is an Indian actress and politician. She served as the Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Mandya, Karnataka. She primarily works in Kannada, alongside Tamil language films
Ramya, known for her role in Suriya's Vaaranam Aayiram (Surya Son Of Krishnan), was most recently seen in the Kannada superhit Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare, released as Boys Hostel in Telugu. She is currently shooting for her upcoming movie, Uttarakhanda.
