Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD
Touted as one of the biggest and most awaited releases of 2024, âKalki 2898 AD' helmed by the visionary Nag Ashwin has fans eagerly awaiting every detail about the film. The magnum opus, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani in pivotal roles, promises to be an extraordinary visual spectacle. Recently, present at the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, âKalki 2898 AD' director Nag Ashwin spoke about his upcoming epic science-fiction entertainer and the timeline of events depicted in the film, along with the power of technology.
Nag Ashwin said, "I just wish definitely that there was more tech to help us make this film, like three-four years back when we were in preproduction. We are creating this new world like I am just looking at this picture right now on the screen, and all these different words that we are trying to create, we work with so many different concept artists and giving prompts, obviously, again, in a very personal, one on one sort of way, and try to give references and build this world. For example, our film starts in Mahabharat and it ends in 2898. That's the title of the film, it's called âKalki 2898 AD'. It spans 6,000 years of distance and time. So trying to create worlds that are there here, imagining what it could be like, still keeping it Indian and not make it look like a blade runner."
Nag Ashwin's much anticipated directorial 'Kalki 2898 AD' was initially supposed to hit the theatres in January this year. However, owing to extensive production and post-production of the film, it will now come at a later date. On Friday, the makers of Prabhas and Deepika Padukone-starrer took to social media to share the new release date of the film.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, 'Kalki 2898AD' promises to transport audiences to a world never seen before in Indian cinema. The film's premise, set in the distant future of '2898 AD', seamlessly blends futuristic elements with rich storytelling, offering an unparalleled and immersive cinematic experience.

At a recent event in Mumbai attended by Nag Ashwin, a student drew parallels between 'Kalki 2898 AD' and the popular 'Star Wars' franchise. "Will the film be India's Star Wars? Are you planning to build an entire universe around it?" he asked. "I don't think soâ¦this will be India's K. It's India's Project K, India's Kalki. It's one film and I think that's enough," stated director Nag Ashwin.
Produced by C Aswani Dutt from Vyjayanthi Movies, the magnum opus stars some of the industry stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani in the lead. This movie is not only a celebration of the incredible talent in the Indian film industry but also a tribute to the creativity and passion of filmmakers worldwide. The film's team aims to create an impact that transcends geographical boundaries, leaving a lasting impression on the global audience.
