On Tuesday morning, Kannada actor Darshan was taken into custody by Mysuru police in a murder case. Reportedly, he was arrested from his farmhouse in Mysuru. The actor, an accused, in the Renuka Swamy murder case, was arrested along with ten others.

According to reports, after being taken from his farmhouse, he is being transported back to Bengaluru for further questioning. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) confirmed that the 47-year-old was picked up for his alleged involvement in the case. Darshan is known for films like 'Anatharu' (2007), 'Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna' (2012) and 'Kaatera' (2023).

According to the police, the victim, Renuka Swamy, was murdered on June 8. A day later her body was found in a drain near Kamakshipalya. The victim was from Chitradurga, over 200 km from Karnataka's capital. The victim's parents are on their way to the Kamakshipalya police station, the cops said to NDTV.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) S Girish said that Thoogudeepa has been taken for questioning by the police. "In connection with a murder case registered in Kamakshipalya Police Station limits of Bengaluru West division on 9th June, one of the actors of the Kannada film industry has been secured and he is being questioned. The details are yet to be ascertained and the matter is under investigation," the DCP (West) Girish said in a press conference here today."

Renukaswamy (33) from Chitradurga is the victim. Around 10 people are detained and they are being questioned," he said.

Pavithra Gowda interrogated:

Darshan's second wife, Pavithra Gowda, was questioned by the police on Tuesday in connection with the murder case of the actor's fan, 33-year-old Renukaswamy. Police sources stated that Pavithra Gowda is being questioned on charges of allegedly conspiring in the crime.

They said police have leads indicating that Pavithra Gowda was present when Darshan and his associates were allegedly attacking the victim.

Sources also said that after Renukaprasad died due to the grievous injuries inflicted allegedly by the actor and his henchmen, Darshan had beaten her up as well, saying that the trouble happened because of her.

The victim, Renukaprasad, used to post derogatory messages on Pavithra Gowda's Instagram every time she used to put up her pictures with Darshan.

Further investigation is underway in the case.
