A still from RRR
SS Rajamouli's Baahubali franchise had travelled to Japan, opening to much acclaim. Now, it's the turn of RRR to make waves in the Land of the Rising Sun. The filmmaker's magnum opus, which has been one of the biggest hits of the year, will première in Tokyo on October 21. Ahead of the release, Jr NTR - who plays tribal leader Komaram Bheem to Ram Charan's Alluri Sitarama Raju in the period drama - has flown to the country to promote the film. Co-star Charan and Rajamouli are expected to join the actor today for the promotional activities.

It is heard that the makers have lined up a two-day première on October 21 and 22. The team is decidedly going big with the events to amplify the buzz around RRR after its recent submission to the Oscars. A source reveals, "Jr NTR has a massive fan base in Japan, and this is an ideal opportunity for him to meet his admirers. Besides the double première that will be attended by the cast, multiple fan events have been scheduled over the next few days. A few meet-and-greet events in and around Tokyo are also on the itinerary. The team is expecting the turnout to be in thousands." Interactions with the local media will be a key feature of the week-long promotions. The source adds, "The lead actors and Rajamouli will discuss the joy and difficulties of pulling off a project of this scale, thus bringing more attention to the movie before the Oscars' shortlist."
