Veteran actress Sudha Shivpuri, who became a household name after essaying the role of 'Baa' in popular TV show "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", passed away in Mumbai today (May 20) due to multiple organ failure. She was 77.

Sudha died at around 6 AM at a suburban hospital in Andheri, where she was admitted since two weeks.

"Sudha was in coma for last three days in Criticare hospital in Andheri. She passed away due to multiple organ failure resulting from an infection," Sandeep Basu, a family friend, told PTI.
Apart from Ekta Kapoor's "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", where she played the family matriarch, Sudha acted in several TV soaps including "Missing", "Rishtey", "Sarhadein" and "Bandhan".
Her other shows include "Sheeshe Ka Ghar", "Waqt Ka Dariya", "Daman", "Santoshi Ma", "Yeh Ghar", "Kasamh Se", and "Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil".
The actress, who was married to Bollywood veteran Om Shivpuri, is survived by two children - son Vineet and daughter Ritu, who too is an actress.
Sudha's last rites will be performed at around 2.30 pm at a crematorium in Oshiwara, Basu added.
