Comedian Sunil Grover involved in a car accident

Stand-up comedian and television actor Sunil Grover's car was involved in an accident at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai on Friday evening, injuring three people. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, according to police officials from Kharghar police station.

Grover (36), along with his mother Kamal Jagannath Grover (58), was on his way to Pune. The vehicle was being driven by his driver Anil Kumar Yadav (32). The incident occurred when the front tyre of the BMW burst and Yadav lost control of the vehicle. The automobile went across the divider and rammed into a Maruti Suzuki Alto that was approaching from the other side.

Police inspector Ramchandra Talwar from Kharghar Police Station said, "The BMW car had three persons seated, including the driver. The accident happened a little ahead of the Belpada signal in Kharghar, as the trio was driving towards Pune. The Alto had three people, who were injured and admitted to an hospital in Kharghar itself."

The injured were rushed to Kharghar Medicity Hospital for treatment. The three are Srirang Lokhande (45), Balasaheb Patil (35) and Rushiraj Laxman Lokhande, who were going towards Vashi. Hospital authorities claimed that they were brought to the hospital around 5.30 pm and suffered fractures.

Dr Pramod Bhor, orthopaedic surgeon at the hospital, said, "All the three men will require surgeries. They were admitted today evening for fractures of wrist and knee, and would require medication before being discharged. The three were business associates, and were returning from a meeting when the mishap occurred."

The actor, who was unhurt, confirmed the accident. He said, "Yes, I was in the car when the accident occurred, but my driver was behind the wheel. Both the vehicles have been damaged, but nobody has been grievously injured."
