Amid the constant criticism being faced by the makers of the singing reality show, Indian Idol 12, the contestants found a reason for celebration. The contestants - Pawandeep Rajan, Arunita Kanjilal, Ashish Kulkarni, Shanmukhapriya, Sayli Kamble, Sawai Bhatt, Anjali Gaikwad, Nihal Tauro and Mohd Danish cut a cake as the 'Romance Special' episode, featuring Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal, garnered a good TRP rating.
Indian Idol 12 romance special got 3.2 ratings. The episode, which aired last weekend, got the show to number 4 position, which means that it was one of the most-watched shows of the week. Fremantle India posted on Instagram, saying, "Romance is definitely in the air. 3.2 rating for the #RomanceSpecial episode on Indian Idol. Super grateful, we couldn't have done it without your love & support. Thank you for tuning into Indian Idol week after week and showing so much love to all our contestants, judges and the show."

This news definitely comes as a respite for the makers from being in the limelight for all the wrong reasons, in the recent past. The show has been under the scanner ever since Anu Malik returned as a judge, and especially after the Kishore Kumar episode when netizens felt the contestants had "ruined" the legend's numbers by singing "badly." Further, the makers received a lot of flak for taking a dig at singer Amit Kumar for criticizing the contestants for the Kishore Kumar episode.

Host Aditya Narayan too landed in trouble for hurting the sentiments of the people of Alibaug, and for taking a dig at Amit Kumar's comment. The show also was facing the heat for allowing contestants to remain in the reality show despite their dismal performances. However, little birdie chirps that there will be an elimination happening anytime soon!
