Hi Mitaali! Do you celebrate âTulsi vivah'?
Yes, I do. It's the start of the wedding season. I, particularly follow the âgood muhurat' and the âbad muhurat'. Post the Tulsi Vivah, all the good muhurat starts, which is an extremely auspicious time for the wedding bells.
Any memories associated with âTulsi vivah'?
When I was a kid, I was staying in a joint family. Those days, my naani was also there. The âTulsi vivah' was conducted at home. Post the âTulsi vivah', there used to be yummy food. I still miss those days.

Do you follow the traditional âTulsi vivah'?
I try my best to follow the traditional âTulsi vivah' as much as possible. But, staying in a nuclear family in Mumbai and working as well, it's a bit challenging to follow the âTulsi vivah' in the traditional way. I, anyways, worship the âTulsi mata's plants throughout the year. Whenever we do 'Tulsi Vivah' we don't call the pandit ji here (in Mumbai). We sometimes take help of YouTube while doing pooja.
What's your message to the readers of Mid Day on the occasion of âTulsi vivah'?
I am a person who likes to follow our tradition as much as I can. All the people out there, I would really appreciate if they can take time out and include âTusli Vivah' as a part of your celebrations. As I said, âTulsi Vivah' marks the beginning of the auspicious wedding season. So, here's wishing a very Happy âTulsi Vivah' to all the Mid-Day readers.
