Back in 2004, a year that might feel like ages ago for some and not so distant for others, Indian television witnessed a game-changing moment with the advent of a musical reality show that would go on to become a massive sensation - Indian Idol. This show, which took heavy inspiration from American Idol, was nothing short of a revolution in the Indian television world. The show had the power to transform lives, and one individual whose life was dramatically altered by this show was Abhijeet Sawant.
Abhijeet Sawant's journey in Indian Idol was nothing less than a fairytale. His voice was one that immediately caught the nation's interest, the smooth voice, brimming with emotion, was not an easy one to forget.
At that point in time, Abhijeet Sawant's voice echoed through every home with a TV and access to the show. People were simply captivated, and their backing for him was rock-solid. They voted, and sent messages, ultimately crowning him as the unquestionable champion of the inaugural season of Indian Idol.
After winning the first season and being crowned as the winner of Indian Idol season 1. Abhijeet's debut album, titled 'Aapka Abhijeet Sawant', released on April 7, 2005, was nothing short of a sensation. It resonated with listeners, and his songs became the anthem of a generation. His second album, 'Junoon, was released in 2007, sealing him as a top singer in the music industry.

The musical sensation got married in 2007 to Shilpa Sawant. In 2008, Abhijeet and Shilpa participated in the dance show 'Nach Baliye'. Together, the couple now has two beautiful kids, Sameera and Ahaana Sawant.
In a sweet moment of fate, Abhijeet and Hussain Kuwajerwala co-hosted Indian Idol 5. He is still quite active on Instagram, keeping his admirers up to date on all his projects. Sawant has dabbled in acting as well. His roles in the films 'Lottery' and 'Tees Maar Khan' proved his range on both the big and small screens. He is also a fitness freak, frequently posting videos of his gym sessions.
Abhijeet's musical journey has taken him to new avenues online. He shares his music through his YouTube channel as well as Instagram. With over 200k subscribers on YouTube, his performances continue to mesmerise audiences in India. In 2018, Abhijeet also acted as a mentor on the TV show 'Love Me India.'
According to new reports, Abhijeet is currently busy recording several albums and travelling for shows abroad. Additionally, there are reports of him launching his own reality show as well.
