Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan has often spoken about his love story with Jaya Bachchan and their eventual marriage. Their journey began on the sets of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's film 'Guddi'. They eventually got married on June 3, 1973 in a traditional Bengali wedding. Bachchan, who is currently hosting the ongoing season of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 15', shared delightful anecdote about his special day.
During a recent episode of the popular game show on television. Amitabh Bachchan spoke about his Bengali wedding, particularly the customary 'topor'. In Bengali Hindu weddings, the topor, a conical headgear, is traditionally worn by grooms. This headgear is gifted by the bride's family, and Amitabh had his reservations about wearing it.
Sharing his reluctance to wear the âtopor', Amitabh said, "This conical cap is worn during a wedding in Bengal. You all know that I have a connection with Bengal. I don't know why they made this and made people wear it. I didn't like it so I asked Jaya's family members and said âI apologise, I will marry your daughter, Jaya, but please don't make me wear this topi'."
Before their marriage bot Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were successful actors. However, Amitabh had one condition regarding Jaya's career post marriage. Jaya Bachchan had recently spoken about the same during a podcast hosted by her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda. "We had decided we will marry in October, because by then my work would have reduced. But he had told me, âI definitely don't want a wife who will be 9 to 5. Please work, but not every day. You choose your projects and work with the right people," she shared.
Jaya Bachchan was recently seen in Karan Johar's hit film 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' alongside Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi. She played the role of Dhanlaxmi, a matriarch who runs a successful family business and likes to keep the members of her family in check.
Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, has 'Ganapath' in his line up with Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon. The actor will also be seen in Nag Aswin's 'Project K' in January. The film will see him alongside actors like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone , and Kamal Haasan.
