Disha Vakani
Indian television has given birth to the successful careers of several actors and actresses. Acting as the wind beneath their wings, the industry gave them a platform to showcase their incredible talent and make homes in people's hearts. One of them is Disha Vakani. Popularly known for playing the role of Daya Jethalal Gada in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, she became one of the most loved television stars.
Disha Vakani, also known as Dayaben from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, wasn't new to the acting world before joining the show. Born to renowned Gujarati theatre personality Bhim Vakani, she started acting at a tender age. She worked as a child theatre artist. After gaining experience from theatre, Disha entered the film industry where she played supporting roles in Hindi films like Devdas (2002) and Jodhaa Akbar (2008).
Her career underwent a major transformation with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Disha became a household name with the portrayal of an innocent yet street-smart Daya who is married to a businessman named Jethalal Gada. Her sibling, Mayur Vakani, plays the character of her on-screen brother Sundarlal.

Disha Vakani a.k.a Dayaben from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
While working on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, she got married to a Mumbai-based chartered accountant named Mayur Padia on 24 November 2015. In 2017, Disha took a break from the show and welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Stuti. The couple had their second baby, a boy, in May 2022.
Disha, who went on maternity leave in 2017, is yet to return to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The current track highlights that Daya is at her maternal home in Ahmedabad and is often on religious tours with her mother.
According to reports, Disha had planned to return to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah after her daughter Stuti turned 6 months to 1 year old. However, during discussions, the actress reportedly asked for a revised paycheque and put forth conditions that could enable her to balance her professional life and personal responsibilities.
On the contrary, certain media reports claimed that Disha had to cut short her career as her husband, Mayur, wanted her to focus on raising their child and be at home. However, there's no clarification on this. Disha hasn't given any statement or update on her return to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
While she remains absent from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Disha delighted her fans by making a rare appearance on social media. She was clicked by an anonymous user recently as she attended a Navratri event in Mumbai. The video of Disha with her husband and children went viral on social media.
Speculation over her return continues to make headlines. Only time shall let whether Disha will step into the shoes of Dayaben once again or not.
