Rahul Vaidya: Disha Parmar and I had always planned to club our honeymoon and my birthday

Newlyweds Rahul Vaidya and Disha Parmar left for their honeymoon on Wednesday, just a day before the singer and reality show contestant's birthday. Rahul had been shooting for Rohit Shetty's adventure reality show- Khatron Ke Khiladi 11, while Disha has been shooting for her daily soap, Ekta Kapoor's Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 opposite Nakuul Mehta. The singer, who turns 34 today, tells midday.com all about his plans in the nation of islands, the Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 finale and his thoughts about Disha's serial.

Excerpts from an exclusive interview

How do you plan to celebrate your birthday in the Maldives and how did you decide on the destination?
Both of us have been overworked and it's time to take a much needed break. I just plan to switch off my phone and enjoy being off work. We had always planned to club our honeymoon and my birthday. Maldives is closer than any other place in the world, so it would save us travel time, which is why we agreed on the destination mutually. I just plan to sit by the beach and relax all day.

You just shot for the Khatron Ke Khiladi finale. How would you sum up your journey on the show?
It's a hectic show, not easy at all. Before Khatron Ke Khiladi, I was on Bigg Boss 14. So I have been working constantly. The finale was super fun and the viewers will enjoy it.

What was your rapport with host-director Rohit Shetty like?
Had it not been for him, we wouldn't be able to pull off the stunts so well. He has been a constant motivation during the shoot.

Bigg Boss 14 was also where you proposed to Disha. Are you excited for the upcoming season, Bigg Boss 15?
I never watched any episodes of Bigg Boss before I entered the show myself. So I can't say I follow it, but of course it will always be special.

Any co-contestants from the show that you are still in touch with?
I keep chatting with Aly Goni and Jasmin Bhasin over Instagram but other than them, I'm not in touch with anyone as of now.

Have you been catching up on Disha's show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 with Nakuul Mehta and what are your thoughts about it?
Yes I do watch it daily and if I miss any episode I catch-up on the app. It's a good show and my best wishes for its success to Disha and the rest of the team.
