Sharib Hashmi
There is no set formula to crack Bollywood, and no one knows this better than Sharib Hashmi, who was led to believe that offers would flood in after the critical acclaim of his 2012 film, Filmistaan. But he says "the experience prepared him" for the entertainment industry. "While I can't believe all the good that has been happening [in my career], I will be fine if it all goes away the next day. After the lull post Filmistaan, I'm prepared for anything," says the actor, who now has about six projects in his kitty.
The Family Man franchise, followed by Asur and Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, opened doors for Hashmi, whose next big release is the Kangana Ranaut-starrer Dhaakad. "I am excited to see all my movies, but I want Sharma Ji Ki Beti to release first," he says, adding that he is playing a role he has never explored before. Hashmi recently wrapped up the schedule of the Tahira Kashyap film, which is a heart-warming, slice-of-life comedy-drama about the experiences of three daughters from different age groups, lifestyles, and experiences. "I play the balancing factor between my on-screen daughter [Vanshika Taparia] and wife," says Hashmi about his character Sudhir.
Crediting his co-star Sakshi Tanwar, who plays his wife in the film, for making the work atmosphere "fun", he says, "She is a thorough professional. We spent a lot of time on set chatting, she is simple, and straightforward, unlike any superstar. Despite being a superstar on television, she has no airs."
