Vidisha Srivastava who essays the role of Anita Bhabi in &TV's 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai,' Tells mid-day.com all her how Holi is celebrated in her hometown, memories of the festival and much more.

Best memories of Holi?
The festival of colours holds a special place in my heart and I celebrate it with complete zeal and zest. I have a lot of memories of Holi, but the fondest one would always be of preparing gujiyas with my mother and dancing to Holi tunes on the terrace with my siblings and applying colour on each other.

Any Holi traditions specific to your region or culture?
I come from Varanasi, and Holi in that city is celebrated in a big way and lasts for two days. One unique tradition of Uttar Pradesh's Holi I would like to highlight is that during Holika Dahan, when a large bonfire is lighted to symbolize the victory of good over evil, we throw ubtan abstract into the fire, which is the removal of a paste formed from mustard seeds, with the idea that it will keep people disease-free for a year.

The food you enjoy on Holi…
Gujiyas with homemade samosa and Varanasi's traditional tamatar chat are two of my favourite Holi delicacies.

How are you celebrating this year?
This year I will be celebrating Holi in Mumbai. My family is here in the city, so I will celebrate with them and then meet my friends. I might also attend one of the parties in the city as I feel it is a great way to meet industry friends that you don't meet daily.
