Abhishek and Shweta Bachchan on Koffee with Karan
On today's edition of 'Wacky Wednesday' we bring to you a cherished episode from Koffee with Karan, your favourite not-so-secret guilty pleasure show. As Amitabh Bachchan turned 81, we thought it would only be fitting to revisit this iconic moment from the show featuring his two children, Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.
Before we delve into the 'wackiness', so to speak, it's important to know a little backstory to this. Amitabh Bachchan, or 'Shehenshah', the befitting tag given to him, has been an icon in the film industry for decades. He has over 200 films under his belt, so it's easy to conjure up the level and amount of adulation he receives from fans. Every Sunday since 1982, thousands of fans gather outside his Mumbai residence 'Jalsa' to catch a glimpse of the star, and every Sunday, Amitabh Bachchan graces the occasion with his presence. It's come to be known as his 'Jalsa tradition'.
On this episode of Koffee with Karan, the host, Karan Johar, engaged in a delightful tete-a-tete with the siblings, delving into many details regarding their family life, personal relationships, and much more. He even asked the two siblings about the crowd that gathers in front of their house without fail every Sunday. The two siblings, in the process of talking about this experience, revealed a hilarious anecdote. Shweta said, "When Navya was a kid, she saw the crowd outside my father's home and said, 'Oh, why are these people here to see me?". Shweta, baffled by this hilarious question, said, "I don't think they're here to see you, but how do you say that to a 3- to 4-year-old kid?" This was met with a laugh by Karan Johar.
Abhishek stepped in to affirm the fact that the children actually thought the crowd was there for them at first. He recounted a time when Amitabh Bachchan took Aaradhya for his 'Jalsa tradition', in a hilarious turn of events. While the crowd was delighted and excited to see Big B and Aaradhya, presumably waving at the two, Aaradhya asked her grandfather, 'Dadaji, you also wave'
