The makers of cult classics like Banegi Apni Baat, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Parvarrish, and many other television dramas, Mere Dad Ki Dulhan is an unconventional story which is all set to redefine the way weekday fiction is consumed. All pictures/Yogen Shah

A difficult and eccentric Ambar Sharma, played by none other than Varun Badola, is a single parent to an ambitious 24-year-old daughter Niya. While they don't share a conventional and a quintessential father-daughter relationship, they've found solace in each other's company and are wading through life, one day at a time, in their unique manner.

Guneet, played by Shweta Tiwari on the other hand, is an independent and an enterprising woman who, even though wounded emotionally, is always optimistic.

Set against the backdrop of Ghaziabad, Mere Dad Ki Dulhan is a progressive story that questions whether there is a defined age to find a companion in life. The story charts the sensibility of a young adult who is sensitive towards her father's needs and wellbeing, thereby accepting love and marriage happening at any age.

Essaying the role of Niya is debutant Anjali Tatrari, who is an ambitious yet rooted daughter of a difficult yet loving father, Amber Sharma.

"When I first came across the show's concept, I knew I am going to love it as it looked extremely promising and worth applauding. I am excited to embark on this journey with my dear friend Shweta Tiwari who has been admired for her versatility in acting. Shweta and I have known each other since long but will be sharing screen space for the first time," said Varun Badola at the event.

Anjali Tatrari also said, "With this show coming my way, I am geared up for an exciting roller coaster ride full of learning. While I have previously been part of web series, television commercials and music videos, this it is my first show on Television."

Sharing her comeback news after 3 years with a show like Mere Dad ki Dulhan is an honour, "I am extremely delighted to portray the character of an outspoken and strong-willed woman who has an optimistic approach towards life despite being hurt and emotionally broken," said the actress.

The show will air starting 11th November, every Mon-Thurs at 10:00 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
