Surbhi Chandna, the actress who struck gold with the television shows Qubool Hai and Ishqbaaaz, has come a long way. As Surbhi celebrated her birthday on September 11, here's a look at some of her lesser-known facts and candid photos.

Born on September 11, 1989, Surbhi Chandna was born in Mumbai, but her family hails from Punjab. Surbhi lives with her parents in Powai, Mumbai and has stated in interviews that she just can't think of living without them even for a day. She is very close to her parents. Not many know that Surbhi Chandna has an MBA in marketing and has worked in a reputed company where she handled international relations. It was this job that led to her traveling the world.

Another lesser-known fact about Surbhi Chandna is that the Naagin actress is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer!

So much is the actress' popularity that Surbhi Chandna was once ranked 7th in the annual TV Personality list by BizAsia!

Not just that, Surbhi Chandna was ranked 29th in the Top 50 Sexiest Women list by Eastern Eye in 2017.

Surbhi Chandna never thought of becoming an actress but was fond of watching plays. Her mother Shashi Chanda was friends with a television actress and it was after meeting her that Subhi decided to give acting a try. During her days of incessant auditioning, her mother began to feel her daughter may not be able to make it. Speaking about it, this is what she said, 'She never wanted to do acting, she wanted to do ads, that was the plan initially. But then we realised the competition. We would stand in queues for auditions for the entire day. I realised then that Surbhi doesn't have a chance there. There were pretty looking girls there, who would be fair and all. She, fortunately, got one ad where she had a shot. We would wait for that.'

Surbhi Chandna attended workshops conducted by prominent theatre personalities such as Neeraj Kavi and Atul Mongia when she was younger. Surbhi said, 'When I was doing my graduation that is when I decided to give this a shot and my mom was very encouraging. She would take me for auditions. We got a photoshoot done. When I was doing BMS, she took voluntary retirement. So, I used to take her auditions and she would make me memorise my lines.'

After doing some commercials, Surbhi Chandna appeared on some episodes of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah. Yes, you heard that right! Surbhi was part of the iconic sitcom as well in 2009. In fact, TMKOC was her TV debut.

Surbhi Chandna was then seen on the television show, Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi...Meri Bhabhi. However, she gained recognition with Qubool Hai, where her performance was appreciated by audiences.

Surbhi Chandna's on-screen portrayal of Haya, a deaf and mute girl on Qubool Hai, was appreciated by the viewers. Moreover, the popularity of the daily soap raised Surbhi's profile.

Surbhi Chandna then landed the role of Annika in Ishqbaaaz after which her popularity soared. Surbhi and her co-stars enjoy a close friendship and the photographs she shares on social media are proof of that.

Surbhi Chandna says that she has never been a fan of Bollywood films. 'I have never been a Bollywood fan. There may have been times when I didn't know which movie was releasing. I was never that involved. One may feel that working in films is less stressful than making a daily soap, but I also feel that the reach that television has, no other medium has,' Surbhi said in a statement, who had featured in 2014's Vidya Balan-starrer Bobby Jasoos.

Surbhi Chandna prefers to be without any make-up. She has stated on several interviews that she only wears the greasepaint for the camera.

In 2014, Surbhi Chandna made her Bollywood debut with Vidya Balan starrer Bobby Jasoos. Her character Aamna Khan aka Aditi, a bubbly role, was much appreciated by critics. Nevertheless, Surbhi did not take up any Bollywood offers further.

Surbhi Chandna also appeared alongside Ishqbaaaz co-star Nakuul Mehta on the reality show Lip Sing Battle in 2017, which was hosted by Farah Khan.

While Nakuul Mehta emerged as the winner, Surbhi Chandna was praised for her performance in the show.

Surbhi Chandna also made an appearance in Vahbbiz Dorabjee's talk show Showbiz With Vahbiz with fellow Ishqbaaaz costar Kunal Jaisingh. She later appeared on Ira Dubey's A Table For Two with Qubool Hai co-star Surbhi Jyoti.

Surbhi Chandna's mother always wanted her to be a doctor. As a child, she loved to play with a toy stethoscope and pretend to examine patients and prescribe medicines. Little did Chandna know that she would actually get to play a doctor, if not become one.

Surbhi Chandna featured in the medical drama Sanjivani which was back after 17 years. Surbhi played a pivotal character in the show, which aired in August 2019 and ended in March 2020.

Surbhi Chandna is now spreading her magic on the new season of Naagin 5, along with co-stars Mohit Sehgal and Sharad Malhotra.
