Bani J who started out as a contestant on the reality show 'Roadies,' is reuniting with her 'Four More Shots Please' co-star Sayani Gupta, for 'Dating These Days.' The show helps people navigate conversations about dating post the pandemic. In an exclusive conversation, Bani tells mid-day.com all about her ideas of romance, dating and marriage.
Tell us about your collaboration with Bumble for 'Dating these Days.' How was your experience?
I absolutely love the work that Bumble engages in, I've collaborated with them in the past as well. I love the fact that they are all about encouraging women to make the first move as we see fit and according to our timeline, as opposed to somebody else's. This is something I deeply resonate with. Hats off for being the pioneers in standing by and encouraging women to take charge of their lives.
What are the dating red flags for you?
I think some really basic red flags would be people making time for you only when it's convenient for them as opposed to a mutually convenient time. Another thing would be not paying attention and not really listening - some very basic stuff that becomes pretty obvious.
Have you tried online dating? How was your experience?
Fortunately, unfortunately I have not tried it, but I wouldn't mind trying it if the app came out with something which was just for the industry people, and that'd be cool, as that would have a proper screening process. It would be fun!

Your thoughts about Bollywood romance growing up v/s now?
I wasn't really influenced much by Bollywood romance growing up, so that did not really shape anything in terms of romance in my life. Although, there is one very jarring image that I'll never forget. When I first watched Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, him running across the beach to Ameesha Patel, I will never be able to forget that. I watched that movie in 6th standard and the next day when I was studying and looking out the window, there was a park across my house, and I remember envisioning Hrithik Roshan running across the park. So, that's etched into my brain forever, in a good way, as I was fan of Hrithik Roshan.
What would your dream romance/wedding involve?
I'm still working on that because my idea of a relationship and happily ever after has changed quite a bit and it's still changing. I'm still putting the pieces together of what it would look like for me.
