A still from the series
In Guns & Gulaabs, it's hard to miss Gulshan Devaiah's character Char Cut Atmaram, who is ruthlessly cold and quirky. The character's name is borrowed from the four-step process that he uses to kill people. While the odd name was enough to pique the actor's curiosity, Devaiah says creator duo Raj-DK gave him complete liberty to bring his own interpretation to Atmaram. "It's an incredible feeling when your directors place such trust in your artistic process. Raj-DK's approach of allowing me to interpret my character's essence, including his appearance and dialogue delivery, has empowered me to be creative," says the actor, who features alongside Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan and Adarsh Gourav in the Netflix crime comedy.
With Atmaram, the idea was to make the absurd fascinating. The actor couldn't have asked for better collaborators than Raj-DK, who are known for their wacky sense of humour. "Working with this maverick duo has been a delightful experience. I admire the crazy worlds and characters they conjure, and the absurdity [they weave] into their scenes."
