âHeeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar' actor Taha Shah Badussha visited the Mahim Dargah in Mumbai to seek divine blessings around the release of his web series.
Taha, who steps into the role of Tajdar Baloch, a man whose charisma knows no bounds in the eight-part series, wore a black kurta and pajamas as he walked barefoot inside the dargah with a basket full of rose petals and a chadar. He then offered the chadar, a piece of cloth as a symbol of respect and prayed.
The actor, who has worked in projects such as 'Luv Ka The End', 'Gippi', 'Baar Baar Dekho' and 'Ranchi Diaries', was then seen offering his prayers.
Sharing his experience working with the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Taha said, "Tajdar is a remarkable character, embodying nobility, kindness, and unwavering determination. Portraying him has been a dream come true. I'm immensely thankful to Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir for entrusting me with this incredible opportunity in Heeramandi. Working alongside such a talented star cast has been a great learning experience and honour. I believe audiences will deeply resonate with Tajdar's narrative of love and patriotism."
Speaking about his audition journey, the actor shared, "Having dreamt of working with the greats, Sanjay Leela Bhansali sat right at the top of my list. It took me fifteen months of relentless auditions for his show, and finally, the opportunity arrived -- a mere three-day role, but I was grateful that I would get a chance to receive his guidance. Meeting him was surreal, and it was then that he surprised me, suggesting a screen test for a more significant character, Tajdar's best friend."
Taha further mentioned, "Little did I know, this was just the beginning. Post-screen test, Sanjay called me again and proposed that I try for the male lead, Tajdar. Overwhelmed and honoured, I embarked on a journey that I knew would be unforgettable."
The star-studded cast of the series also includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Shekhar Suman, and Fardeen Khan.
âHeeramandi' streams on Netflix from May 1.
