Heeramandi: This is how much the cast and director charged for the Netflix series

Heeramandi: Sonakshi Sinha is the highest paid actress on the show while Sharmin Segal was paid the least. The show was made on a budget of Rs 200 crore

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi' opened to mixed reviews. While the grand sets and costumes were much appreciated, several netizens were left unimpressed with the historical inaccuracies and lack of depth in the plot. The series is set in the 1920s Lahore and traces the journey of courtesans at Heeramandi and their contribution to India's independence. Recently, Money Control published a report o the budget and caste fees of the Heeramandi.

Not just the sets, costumes and jewellery, but the leading ladies of the show 'Heeramandi' also took home large sum as fees. According to the report, Heeramandi was made on a budget of whooping Rs 200 crore. Bhansali charged approximately Rs 60-70 crore as direction fees.

Here's how much each actress charged for the show:

Manisha Koirala:

She gave a power-packed performance as Mallikajaan on the show- the huzoor of Shahi Mahal of Heeramandi. For the show, she charged Rs 1 crore.

Sonakshi Sinha:

The actress who essayed the role of Fareedan, nemesis of Mallikajaan was paid Rs 2 crore. She is the highest paid actress on the show.

Aditi Rao Hydari:

The actress played the role of Bibbojaan, elder daughter of Mallikajaan. She is also seen a freedom fighter in the series. The actress took home Rs 1-1.5 crore for the show.

Richa Chadha:

Despite a smaller screen time, the actress was paid as much as Manisha. She charged Rs 1 crore for her role as Lajjo, foster daughter of Mallikajaan.

Sharmin Segal:

Sharmin, the niece of Bhansali, played the role of Alamzeb,- daughter of Mallikajaan. She was paid Rs 30 lakh for her role in the series.

Fardeen Khan:

The actor made his comeback after over a decade with the series. He played the role of Nawab Wali Bin Zayed-Al Mohammed. He charged Rs 75 crore for the show.

'Heeramandi' also features Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, Taha Shah Badussha, Farida Jalal and Shruti Sharma in crucial characters.‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar' is one of the biggest bets of Netflix in recent times. The streaming show, which features an ensemble star cast tells the story of two rival courtesans and how they vow to destroy each other in order to seek revenge.

The story of 'Heeramandi' is set in 1920 Lahore. Regarding the love he is receiving from the neighboring country, in an interview with Indiewire, Sanjay Leela Bhansali shared, "There was so much love that I received from Pakistan, people waiting for it anxiously, waiting for this to be told. It's a piece that somehow brings us all together, when all India was one, it was undivided. These people belong to us as much as they belong to them. I think they belong to both of us and both countries are showing a lot of love for finally the show being made. I still feel we're all one, I still feel that we're all connected in so many ways. There's a lot of love for people on both sides, leave aside a few people would want to create issues - but those are not relevant."
