Mrinal Dutt
Though 'Khwabon Ke Parindey' has opened to mixed reviews, Mrinal Dutt counts it as a learning experience. "We know that we could have done better but this was a learning experience. The series was shot on a low budget, with only 20 people on board. It was a young crew, with the average age being 26 years. We had booked eight convoys to travel across Australia," says the actor.
The six-episode web show, revolving around four friends who take a road trip from Melbourne to Perth, sees Dutt as the timid, soft-spoken and introverted Dixit. Along with co-stars Asha Negi, Manasi Moghe and Tusshar Sharma, the actor underwent extensive prep to perfect his part. "Tapasvi [Mehta], our director, was already in Australia when we reached 15 days prior to the shoot. The four of us were living in a house away from the city. We cooked and cleaned together every day. After we settled in, the direction [team] would come in for rehearsals." The rigorous rehearsals aside, Dutt had private sittings with the director to get into the psyche of his character. "It was fun to explore Dixit and tap into his emotions. We inhabited those characters for almost two-and-a-half months," he adds.
While a second season is not on the cards as yet, Dutt says he has earned friends for life. "I think we discovered a little about ourselves and each other on this journey. Asha and I have continued to stay in touch. Although, we are not the best of friends, such experiences create beautiful friendships, even through the disagreements we've had," says the 'His Storyy' actor, reminiscing how Negi would often make him his morning coffee.
