"I'm that Girl you've seen somewhere but can't remember where," reads Wamiqa Gabbi's Instagram bio. The actress who started her big screen career with a small role in Imtiaz Ali's hit film 'Jab We Met' in 2007 has 2.7 millions followers on the gram. From Punjabi cinema to Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema, the actress has worked in movies across languages over the years. This year, Gabbi shone with her performance on OTT platforms that introduced her to a wider audience.
Earlier this year, Wamiqa Gabbi played the pivotal role of Nilofer in Vikramaditya Motwane's series 'Jubilee'. The series takes us through the period just before and after Indian independence and the changing dynamics of the Hindi film industry set in Bombay. Wamiqa essayed the role of a struggling actress who falls for Jay Khanna, a struggling filmmaker. Her nuanced act as Nilofer Qureshi introduced her to a larger audience.
More recently, Gabbi was seen in two back-to-back projects directed by Vishal Bharadwaj. Both, a film and a series, presented Gabbi in unique roles.

In the series titled 'Charlie Chopra and the Mystery of Solang Valley', Gabbi essayed the titular role. The show is based on a crime mystery novel by Agatha Christie, The Sittaford Mystery.
Before venturing into the world of OTT, Gabbi, who hails from Punjab, made a name for herself in South Cinema. In 2015, Wamiqa made her Telugu debut with the film 'Bhale Manchi Roju' where she played the role of Sitha. In the following year, she was seen in the Tamil film 'Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam' as Manoja.
It was in 2017 that she made her debut in Malayalam cinema with the blockbuster film 'Godha' co-starring Tovino Thomas. She plays a character who hails from Punjab and is a professional wrestler. Fate brings her to Kerala, where she receives formal training for the sports. Later she was seen in the Malayalam movie Nine alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mamta Mohandas.
In 2021, Wamiqa had a special appearance in the cricket biopic drama '83. She was seen sharing screen with Deepika Padukone in the film.
Wamiqa Gabbi will next be seen in Atlee's film with Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh. The title of the film is yet to be announced.
