Ananya Panday and Vir Das
In March, it was announced that Ananya Panday would make her web series debut with Call Me Bae. The slice-of-life comedy, backed by Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment, tells the story of a billionaire fashionista who is shunned by her family after she lands in a controversy. Now, we hear comedian-actor Vir Das is a part of the Collin D'Cunha-directed venture.
Sources say the stand-up comic was roped in late last year. "When scouting for the part, the director and creative minds behind the series wanted a sharp and funny guy. Vir was the instant choice. He was busy throughout 2022 with his comedy shows, but on returning to India this year, he shot for the series in a straight schedule from early January to February-end," says a source, adding that Das's role is being kept under wraps as it is integral to the narrative. The Amazon Prime Video offering, which also features Gurfateh Pirzada, is expected to stream by the year-end.
