After ALTBalaji and ZEE5 hit home with season 1, Dev DD 2 brings to us a more badass, a more daunting, a more coarse version of Devika. She knows she is the party's life but also knows she is the most talked-about at any party. This bold, badass woman has made her peace with the fact that people talk. However, it takes her a while to accept that she lost who she thought was the love of her life.
Asheema Vardaan truly breathes life into Devika Dharam Dwivedi's character with her voice, looks, and acting skills. Devika's pain at her loss, her emotions of surprise and joy all come through so well, you can't help but be drawn to Devika, and before you know it, you are trapped by this firecracker of a woman and her story as well. This happens because breaking stereotypes is what Devika has set out to do. It is something we all want to do as well. Hence the deep connection between the audience and the character and the series.
We have Anurag played by Mr. Sanjay Suri. Anurag is Devika's heartbreaker, her joy, and her pain. He does love her, but it's the root cause of all her pain. He leaves her because his daughter isn't happy about their relationship. He didn't know what the reason was, but he didn't want to lose his daughter now that she gave him a second chance. It turned out that Anurag's daughter Chandni and Devika were best friends. He wishes he could've met Devika at a different time and place, in a different life. Is all their suffering worth it?
We are also introduced to Chandni, another headstrong, stubborn girl with strong opinions. She and Devika have been best friends for life. Rashmi Agdekar plays Chandni. Everything went for a toss when Chandni knew of her best friend's relationship with her father. It also shook her already rocky relationship with her father, who was finally coming to terms with who she is. Can we blame her, though? This is not a situation you come across every day, and it is not something an outsider can understand.
The series follows Devika as she weaved through a ton of emotional trauma when her lover and boss and best friend's father left her without a real explanation or closure. She is lost as her best friend ditches her too. Devika's struggle, to come out of the spiral and grow into a woman to be reckoned with is a very interesting story.
The show's cast consists of Asheema Vardaan, Sanjay Suri, Nauheed Cyrusi, Aman Uppal, Suneel Sinha, Deepika Amin Deshpande, Rashmi Agdekar, Rumana Molla, and Satyajit Sharma and so many more making this show an incredible watch. Harsh Dedhia has directed the series.
Dev DD hits the ALTBalaji and ZEE5 platforms on 20th February 2021. Keep watching the platforms for all the details of the series.
