Located inside the TISS campus, a new community centre for senior citizens opens today, with a host of activities on offer
TISS campus, a new community centre
Adhata Trust, a social initiative for the welfare of senior citizens, in association with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), is starting their third Community Centre for Senior Citizens at the TISS campus in Deonar. The centre, which started with the help of faculty members and students of the college, will encourage senior citizens to participate in activities that have been designed to enrich their lives and help them stay up-to-date with the modern world.
It will also provide a platform for senior citizens to interact with like-minded people and pursue their interests.
The activities at the TISS centre are likely to include - Yoga and other exercise routines to facilitate health awareness and indoor games such as chess and billiards, to ensure the participants remain alert and active. It will also offer basic computer lessons, art classes and music therapy.
The inauguration event will also be an opportunity to interact with TISS director, Dr S Parasuraman and Arun Nanda, founder and chairman of Mahindra Holidays, who initiated the Adhata Trust.
