"I had a passion for photography and travel. So I decided to quit my job and follow my instincts. After travelling in Asia, I came back to Italy and then went to Russia," says Tomassetti.
The photographer has travelled to 16 countries in the last three years including Laos, Thailand, China, Mongolia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
Stefano Tomassetti
Since the last four months, he has been touring India and first landed at Mahabalipuram. When he reached Goa, he bought a Royal Enfield Bullet and travelled to Varanasi and then to Rajasthan.
"There are so many states in India and the culture is different at every place. People have a distinct way of living everywhere. The atmosphere, however, is the same, I find it peaceful and spiritual here," he tells us.
Africa
Tomassetti, who is here for another month, will head to Turkey and Europe next.
The exhibition
He had emailed around 200 galleries all over the world with an interest to exhibit his works. In India, it was Jagdish Agarwal, founder of Dinodia Photo Library and gallery who responded in the affirmative. "He was travelling all over, and spending a lot of money too.
Malaysia
I liked his work and so, we thought we could have an exhibition and a sale of the photographs at the gallery. We are displaying 39 photographs, but none from his travels in India.
I felt the audience here has already seen India, and it would be a great way to introduce other cities to Indians, through his way of seeing the world," says Agarwal. Those interested can buy the photographs for '5,000 each.
