Tomorrow, a new music platform will start the process of selecting the best Indie talent from across the country

In July 2011, Converse Rubber Tracks, a community-based recording studio was set up in Brooklyn, New York. Over the years, it has provided artistes across genres with an opportunity to record in its state-of-the-art studio in New York. The hunt for artistes has been held in places like Beijing and Amsterdam. Musicians are also allowed to retain the rights to their music. In its first edition in the country, Road to Converse Rubber Tracks in India will aid Indie bands to perform, record and release their music for a wider audience.

Skrat will also perform at the elimination gig on March 20

The multi-city elimination rounds will be held in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai. The Mumbai round, to be held on March 20, will see five bands in performance. One band will be selected from each of the five cities to participate in a finale in Mumbai. At the pop-up studio in Mumbai, each band will get to design and print merchandise, perform and enjoy a music recording experience. The winning band will get to record at the Rubber Tracks studio.

Ankur and the Ghalat Family will headline the elimination gig of Road to Converse Rubber Tracks in the city

Rohit Pereira aka P-Man (bassist for Shaa'ir + Func) is the band hunter for the event. He scoured college festivals and gigs across India in the first half of March to identify bands. During his travels, he shot a video documenting his journey through each city. Ajay Chablani, Business Head, Planet Sports, elaborated, "At the finale in April, we will ensure each shortlisted band walks away with the unique experience of recording their tracks live." He added that workshops on touring, production and recording, promotion and public relations, album art and merchandise are part of the initiative.
