This Sunday, witness a lively session of Sangeet Bari by women performers
Lavani remains intrinsic to Maharashtra, and once again, fans will get the opportunity to enjoy Sangeet Bari, a performance directed by Savitri Medhatul that will combine multiple narratives around the art form.
According to Bhushan Korgaonkar, the writer of the show, "It will be a mix of earlier acts. We also have a new artiste calle Akanksha Kadam belongs to the contemporary school of Lavani. So, the audience will be able to witness a new, different style of Lavani. Other performers include Shakuntalabai Nagarkar, Pushpa Satarkar, Sunita Dhondraikar, Latabai Waikar, Chandrakant Lakhe Jejurikar, Sunil Jawale and Sumit Kudalkar.
Interestingly, the venue, is usually home to indie gigs, which are typically in English and Hindi. "It's a welcome move to open its doors to Marathi and other regional language plays and performances," he reveals.
