Exhibition in Mumbai to display works of 5 young female artists

An eclectic blend of visual art and illustration will be on display at an exhibition by five young women artists

This year, ring in the Women's Day celebrations by heading to The Loft at Lower Parel, which is the venue for ArtShe, an exhibition featuring five upcoming female artists from Mumbai and Delhi. Priyanka Paul, Devika Swarup, Tara Anand, Sarika Bajaj, and Suruchi Choksi are displaying their work at the exhibition.

"The idea is to promote upcoming artists and female creativity," says Tara Khandelwal of SheThePeople.TV, a platform for women entrepreneurs and creatives, which is hosting this event.

Eighteen-year-old Priyanka Paul is an illustrator and poet whose pieces put the spotlight on social issues. Her art, re-imagining Hindu goddesses, recently went viral online. The second artist, Tara Anand, is also 18. Known for her work on women warriors, this illustrator's art is influenced heavily by history, literature and her surroundings.

A self-taught artist, Suruchi Choksi will present a video installation at the exhibition. Sarika Bajaj, meanwhile, has displayed her works around
the world. While these four artists are based in Mumbai, the fifth, Devika Swarup, comes from Delhi and is a visual artist who works across four media - drawing, printmaking, sculpture and installation.
