A unique initiative by three Puneites has led to The West Pune's Summer Fest which will feature a flea market cum exhibition and will be hosted in the hitherto neglected western part of the city
Three friends, Jayesh Paranjape, Dhananjay Kulkarni and Reshma Kinera, have come together to create a flea market experience in the city. This flea market-cum-exhibition is slated to take place over the weekend and visitors can head to the shopping stalls and attend workshops.

Speaking about the summer fest, Paranjape says, "The concept behind this summer fest was to give the feeling of a flea market to the residents of this side of the city. While areas like Koregaon Park and Kalyani Nagar host such events regularly, locals from Kothrud, Bavdhan, Baner and Pashan are often left out. Being residents of these areas, we felt the need to have some activity in our area too. Thus, emerged the idea of this summer festival."

He adds that the main attraction of the fest is that it is happening in a completely open space. "The area is densely surrounded by trees and airy. So, it is the perfect venue to spend your weekend with the family. We have put up 23 stalls of various artists from the city. There will be gifting options, decorative artefacts, clothing, etc. We have given these stalls to the needy artists from surrounding village and NGOs that need exposure."
There will also be workshops for all age groups, particularly children. It will feature activities like terracotta art, clay pot making, and cupcake decorations. The workshops will have nominal fees ranging from '150 to '350. The venue will also have a food court.
