This is a special series of documentaries that explores some of the most popular paintings in the history of art.

The documentaries explore every aspect of a painting, right from the type of brush used to the characters displayed in the artwork.

This week, watch two documentaries - La Menace Suspendue and Les Jardins Du Paradis. La Menace Suspendue looks into the acclaimed woodblock print, The Great Wave of Kanagawa or simply The Great Wave from the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai's series titled Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji.

The documentary explores the popularity of the artwork and its link to Japanese culture. The second documentary, Les Jardins Du Paradis, looks at Persian miniatures notably through the manuscript texts of the famous 12th century poet, Nezami.

Strings attached
Premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2012, Chicago-based director, Prashant Bhargava's feature film, Patang, received accolades across film festivals including a four-star rating from film critic Roger Ebert. Starring Seema Biswas and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film is shot in the city of Ahmedabad and explores how the riot-torn society is brought together by the annual kite festival.
