What: The Heritage Transport Museum of India, Gurgaon, might be of interest to the Mumbaikar, especially now, as works by TV Santosh and Hetal Shukla along with rare archival material are on display at the facility. A three-levelled state-of-the-art structure, the museum has an automobile gallery, a dedicated section on the railways, two wheelers, heavy mechanised transportation and pre-mechanised transportation. Also, historical collections, maritime gallery, tribal art are worth a look. Santosh and Shukla's artwork are displayed in the Contemporary Art section.
TV Santosh's artwork, Threshold into a Dream is tilted at 30 degrees to investigate the the Victoria Terminus as a symbol of the changing image of the city
Titled, Multiplicity, the artwork is by Mumbai-based artist Hetal Shukla in 2012. As seen, a Chevrolet is covered with dome mirrors
Titled, Bombay Taxi, the black-and-white photograph depicts public transport from 1910
How: Santosh's artwork, premised on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus holds several interpretations. Canvassing its journey from a colonial symbol to the "heart of the city, carrying people within Mumbai and from the rest of the country" including the recent terrorist attack in 2008 as per the museum. The timers, thus could be, in Santosh's opinion, counting down to a catastrophe or the next act of terrorism or the arrival and departure of trains. The other Mumbai-based artist, Hetal Shukla, who also impressed visitors at the Kala Ghoda two years ago, is known for the artwork, Ambey-se-Darr.
