Like the popular saying art imitates life, Zeeshan Ayyub's new play draws from new-age life; replete with competitiveness, jealousy, power play, insecurity and the rut of climbing the corporate ladder. Iss Kambakth Satthe Ka Kya Karein will see actor Zeeshan Ayyub (who has appeared in films like Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu Returns) perform on stage with his wife Rasika Agashe, who has also directed the play.

Ayyub and Agashe run a theatre group called Being Association that has produced popular plays like Museum Of Species In Danger, a tribute to Nirbhaya. Their latest, a 75-minute dark comedy tells the story of Abhay, a successful ad filmmaker, who has everything going for him, and yet enters a never-ending competition of proving himself to everybody. "He believes that his friend Satthe, a documentary filmmaker is getting all the respect that Abhay deserves. The trouble begins when he starts bringing his work issues at work home to his wife Salma, who is a lecturer," says Agashe.

"The audience never sees Satthe but hears of him from the two characters on stage; Abhay and Salma," she reveals. The play has been translated to Hindi by Jyoti Subhash from the original script which was written in Marathi 15 years ago. "I had seen the original play and found the context even more relevant today. I loved the fact that it takes a funny and lighter look at serious issues," says Agashe. The music is a mix of contemporary Bollywood and sounds from news bytes since "that's the music you'd find in a common man's life."
