If Instagram is to go by, everyone you know is getting married. It is indeed the season to make merry and be your fabulous self when in attendance. Depending on the kind of wedding you're about to attend - grand, intimate, or elegant - you must decide the look to carry. Skincare and make-up might seem daunting to many, but we've got experts to help you with simple tips. As a precursor, expert dermatologist with AcneSquad Dr. Rashmi Shetty shares easy skincare tips to get your skin ready, and Sukhleen Aneja, CEO, Beauty and FMCG Brands, Good Glamm Group lists eight make-up trends that are being loved across the globe right now.
Before you get started with the make-up, here are some skincare tips by Dr Rashmi Shetty:
1. Hydrate and nourish
Following a daily skincare routine is highly important. One must ensure their skin is nourished and hydrated. Well hydrated skin heals itself, appears glowing, and youthful. Add moisturiser and nourishing cream to your skincare routine for supple and smooth skin.
2. Meet your dermatologist
Visit a dermatologist and get a consultation to understand your skin better and identify the problem areas ahead of time. Commit to a daily skincare routine with products that are suitable for your skin type to be ready for the wedding season.
3. Keep an SOS kit ready
Put together an SOS kit including some key ingredients and products which can be used in case of an allergic reaction or skin irritation caused by makeup, control redness with calamine lotion or calendula cream that calms and soothes the skin.
4. Taking care of acne prone skin
Having acne-prone skin is a common concern amongst all genders and age-groups, so if one is suffering from acne, ensure that you are treating it two to three months in advance. Follow a proper skincare regime and take care of the skin on a day-to-day basis, by seeking help from your doctor if required.
Once your skin is nourished, you can take cues from the following eight make-up trends:
1. Graphic eyes
To add glam to the makeup look, graphic eyeliner is a great idea. All you need is precise liquid eyeliner that is long-lasting to make elongating silhouettes that give your eyes a lifted look. You could add a pop of colour with some eye shadow or create layers with coloured eyeliner.

2. Jewel tones
The jewel tones of the 90s - sapphire blues, emeralds, ruby reds, etc. - are making a comeback in make-up looks this wedding season. An enchanting eye shadow look is the best way to channel your love for the old school. Cue: Julia Roberts' recent jewel-toned look at the 'Ticket to Paradise' premiere.
3. Glossy vinyl lips
A bold lip can never go out of fashion. Vinyl lips are the new bold lip, this season and require layering. Begin by exfoliating your lips and colour correcting them before you apply your lip liner, followed by lipstick, and ultimately a rich lip gloss to give it that 3-D vinyl finish.
4. Matte red
A classic red is for keeps. All you need is a rich powder-matte lipstick that doesn't leave your lips dry and helps you rock that red seamlessly.
5. Eclectic eyes
Feeling experimental? Try playing with your eye shadow palette for a fun, eclectic look. A combination of matte, metallic and foil finishes can make any make-up look as edgy as you like.
6. Dewy skin
Winter is a great time to go for a dewy make-up look. It keeps your skin hydrated without the worry of being too sweaty. Skip the foundation, conceal where necessary and keep it light with the eye shadows. A luminescent blush and highlighter duo helps bring the fresh look together.
7. Vibrant nails
It's the little details that can uplift your look. Don't leave your nails to the last minute and choose a gel-finish nail lacquer in a vibrant colour to complement your outfit and make heads turn.
8. Champagne gold
Last but not least, a face glittering in gold never goes unnoticed. You could keep it minimal by creating soft champagne gold eyelids. Or go all out by mixing chocolate brown and champagne gold to create sultry eyes. Add kajal to give your eyes an intense look and finish it off with mascara, always.
