Mumbaikar Sanjay Lawrence suggests wearing perforated rainwear loafers to avoid water retention and smelly feet. In terms of clothing, wearing a mix of T-shirts/shirts and jeans while also carrying a pair of nylon track pants in one's bag for emergencies helps.

Jaie Kulkarni says wearing nylons or cotton is ideal so that they dry faster. Apart from that, wearing darker coloured clothes helps, so it's not too obvious if they get wet. Carry a small towel to wipe down wet seats and windows in trains. Keeping another small towel to dry your hair or wipe any mud off of my trousers is a good idea.

Using a compact umbrella over a big size for the sake of fashion, always helps with mobility. Carrying a bag to pack the umbrella is also needed during the monsoon.

Agnes Fernandes, who has been travelling in the Mumbai local trains for a very long time says wearing light materials, preferably cotton is best during the monsoon because they dry faster. Just like Kulkarni, she says darker shades help to avoid her clothes from becoming see-through when wet. Carrying a spare outfit or pair of shoes you can quickly change into when wet is also helpful.

Placy Lobo says switching to lighter clothes like a synthetic kurta or a Western top which dries faster is another option. Carrying a shrug to keep yourself warm in case you get wet is another tip during the monsoon; avoiding long pants because it gets dirty, and jeans as it takes time to dry is necessary.
