This Thursday, Shannon Pereira, a guitar prodigy who strummed his first chords when he was six, is looking forward to celebrating his 23rd birthday (with help from his a year-old band) with you.
A constant feature at Mumbai's Hard Rock Cafe since its inception in 2007, Pereira has always lived up to the reputation of garnering a full house of Rock music lovers. After a series of recent, foot-thumping performances that included tributes to Bon Jovi and The Scorpions, Shannon & The Silent Riot will be coming up with their second official gig as a band. All geared to throw you off balance, Pereira says, "This is by far the biggest show we have ever produced and one that I've been planning for a long time. There'll be several performances and surprises that one should watch out for."
The band along with Pereira includes Prasad Salian as the lead singer, Michael Fernandes on bass, Partho Dasgupta on rhythm guitar and Joshua Vaz on the drums. The stimulating ensemble is known for their big love for all the fathers of Rock, be it - AC DC, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones,
The Beatles and many more. Pereira divulges, "We will have songs by Michael Jackson and even James Brown's I Feel Good. It will be something a Rock band is never seen doing before - an absolute paisa vasool gig. The audience won't know what's going to hit them." Coming from a man who built a guitar out of guava wood he found lying on the road, touche,
we say.
