Mumbai can revel in the energy and enthusiasm of youth theatre at its very best, as the 15th edition of Thespo gets underway, today at Prithvi Theatre.
The plays: from a staggering 120 entries, curators Shruti Sirdharan and Abhishek Saha had to shortlist five plays from different cities, namely, Pune (Kabadi Un-Cut and Miâ¦Ghalib), Delhi (Norway. Today) and Mumbai (The E.Q. and 786).
The workshops: watch out for performance-oriented workshops as well as international names who will offer amazing insights into the world of global theatre. From Slovenian theatre director, Barbara Anders to youth theatre specials Clerke and Joy as well as American Ellen Dash Walter, there will be enough to choose from.
For Indian flavours at the festival workshops, Choiti Ghosh will create an object theatre performance while Deepal Doshi will conduct a clowning workshop; Arghya Lahiri will organise a lighting workshop while veteran Ameen Sayani will focus on voice.
The awards: On the final day of the festival, statuettes will be presented for excellence in acting, direction, production design, writing and over all play. The highlight will be the Lifetime Achievement Award, which will to be presented to Sabira Merchant. u00a0
