Pay a visit to Bliss Art Gallery and you will be transported to a mythical land. Artist Megha Kumar, whose Madhubani artworks are on display at the gallery depicts festivals and events such as birth, marriage and the stories in the epics through her art.
Madhubani, or Mithila is an old technique of painting that originated in the Mithila region of Bihar. The origins of this style of art are shrouded in antiquity and mythology. Kumar's images showcase wedding rituals, the elephant God Ganesha, scenes from the Ramayana and the Krishna Leela where gopis are dancing with Krishna.

"In one of paintings I have experimented with the theme. Lord Krishna is known as the lord of romance. Here I have tried to show that beyond romance he is the supreme creator and an observer. Through art I try to show the blend of culture and faith," she said.
Kumar's paintings are made with acrylic and fabric colours on silk cloth (mixed silk). Some of the paintings have Kachani work on them which is filling figures with checks and lines while others have Bharani work where the figures are filed in with paints.
"After completing my SSC, I attended a six month long specialised training class in this art and post-marriage my husband inspired me to display my art. That's why after a decade of painting, this is my first display in the art gallery," she adds.
