Diwali is round the corner, so before you find yourself submerged in social commitments and outings, make your way to Horniman Circle today and treat yourself to a carnival of art, culture music and dance at Indikaleido.
Rahul Sharma will start his performance with an evening raga today
Organised by the Horniman Circle Garden Trust, the festival is in its last day today. It aims to merge modern India and the country's rich culture with performances by well-known artistes.
Today's performers include folk and fusion vocalist Neeraj Arya, a self-taught musician who takes inspiration from the philosophy of Sant Kabir; a santoor recital by Rahul Sharma and Sufi songs by Indira Naik. The finale will be a performance by El Ferda, an Algerian Sufi group.
To give the audience a glimpse of classical music, Rahul Sharma will start with an evening raga and then move on to folk pieces from Jammu and Kashmir. "The Horniman Circle is a great venue as it will be open air. For me, too, the experience will be unique, as compared to playing in a closed hall for longer period of time," says Sharma. He will be accompanied by a pakhawach and a table player.
