A five-day exhibition regarding herbal products and alternative therapies titled, Sanjivani - 2012 is being organised in the city with an aim to promote traditional medicinal practices like Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga, Homoeopathy, Acupressure, Acupuncture, Naturopathy and Reflexology.

The event will also promote Magnet therapy, Aroma therapy, Crystal therapy, Aura Therapy, Flower therapy, Colour therapy, Energy Healing and Spiritual healing among other related things.
"As people are increasingly recognising the adverse effects of chemical-based drugs and have been troubled by the escalating cost of health care, the demand for herbal products and alternative therapies are on the rise," says Amith Mukharji, organiser of Sanjivani 2012.
The exhibition is expected to showcase around 100 stalls with products and services related to natural forms of healing. The Expo will also feature free health check-ups, lectures, seminars and workshops on a variety of topics. Informative displays and education on medicinal plants and dry herbs are part of it too. Mukharji feels that short-term medication provisions are taking people towards major health issues.
"Our body has a natural curative mechanism of reacting to any disease in the most appropriate way. Conventional systems call such reactions as symptoms and medications prescribed are only designed to suppress them. In contrast, traditional therapies aim to integrate body, mind, and spirit to prevent and treat diseases," informs Mukharji.
"Alternative and traditional medicines are founded on a deep belief in the healing power of nature. Health is not simply a composite of quantifiable entities such as chemical levels in the blood and urine. It is ultimately a state of perfect balance," he adds.
Mukharji is also of the opinion that the time has come wherein the quantum of people preferring herbal products and traditional therapies will grow by leaps and bounds.
