It's about time. In a city that's brimming with talent from every side, talented professionals like Karan Singh Sood felt that youngsters with an eye for the creative arts might lose out for lack of a platform to showcase their talent.

"Nearly eight years, I took up photography as a hobby. I worked at Ogilvy and Matheru00a0 (O&M) and pursued this by the side. I even won a few competitions. Slowly, I felt the need to take this up, full-time and work at building a platform for like-minded talent," explains the 25 year-old, who quit advertising to focus on his dream project.u00a0

His photo exhibition, which opens on World Photography Day, will announce the launch of the Artwalla Company with partner Veenit Kawedia. "I went through the same process and felt that it's important to create a platform for folks like us, who create art that might not be commercially viable, like advertising photography, for instance. Amateur artists, painters and lensmen shouldn't lose out on the recognition for want of support," she shares.

Karan reveals that his works have not been edited nor has any Photoshop treatment been done to any of the prints. Depending on the response to this launch venture, he is gung-ho about organising photography workshops -- "It's important for amateurs to realise that one doesn't necessarily need expensive equipment to
create good art."

on August 19-21, 4pm to 11 pm
at Chez Moi, Bandra Reclamation, Bandra (W).
